- Tumblr, where the blog has been hosted until now, has no export or backup options available. I had to jump through significant hoops to import all my posts over here, but at least Blogger has good export and backup features.
- I really like Blogger's tree-style navigation, over there to the right --->
- I felt like it was time for a change :)
We'll see how this works out. I'd be interested to hear feedback on the new layout, etc.. if you feel so inclined :)
Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteI follow your progress with interest, and wish you well.
Cheers,
Sue
p.s. Much prefer this new layout.
Thanks Sue, I really appreciate the feedback!
DeleteI'm still finding my away around the new site, but I'm certainly finding it less restrictive and more flexible than the old one so I think we'll stick around :)
Cheers,
Simon.
Loving the blog(following from Ausmini.
ReplyDeleteNot sure about blogger specifically but I there are some good blog export options for wordpress to help build blogs into books, I'm planning on doing that with my mini build. Might be an idea to look into, "Building the house" would make a great coffee table book! :)
Keep it up, love reading this!
Nick
Hey! Good to see some Ausminiers getting out and about :)
DeleteIt turned out that about the only way I could get my posts out of Tumblr was to use a tool someone wrote to migrate to Wordpress, then a different tool to import into Blogger from Wordpress. I got --><-- this close to completing a script of my own to do the job, but I hit an anti-spam rate limit imposed by Google before I got it to work :(
No matter, I'm here now. Definitely finding Blogger a better platform than Tumblr.
Ok - LOVE the blog, been following since go. The only thing I don't like about this new layout is all the grey!! It's like it's a constant rainy day! (This view could be tainted by the fact I'm currently travelling around Eastern Europe - and I work in the field of the Visual Arts!!)
ReplyDeleteHey TC, thanks for the comments! I think much of the grey comes from the stock photo background; I used that because I don't have a good landscape shot of our place - there's always kids or buildings in the frame :)
DeleteI do plan to get an authentic backdrop photo at some point, maybe that'll reduce the drab :)
